Be wary of 2008 Multi-Targeting.
The problem I was having with the datagrid not displaying correctly was because I didn't have the 3.5 framework installed on the laptop.
I told my project to target 3.0 and installed the 3.0 framework, but the application didn't work correctly until I installed the 3.5 framework.
